Hello all,
I am Muntasir Abdalla Ibrahim, PhD candidate from Sudan registered at University of Khartoum, and at the same time I am a lecturer at University of Blue Nile in Sudan since 2005. In 2012 I was selected as associate member of the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy. Currently, my research is focused on the study of the association of air pollution levels to atmospheric weather regimes over Europe.
Since Sudan is located in hydro-meteorological region, extreme events such as dust and drought in the North part of Sudan, and the impact of heavy rains, which cause flooding in the Central and South part of Sudan, are an important and interesting topics for scientific research and publications. Therefore, attending this school will fit my knowledge about extreme events, which will reflect positively in my future study and research since now I have a collaboration with the Sudan Meteorological Authority to arrange for publications in the extreme events for Sudan. Strength my knowledge in hydrological models, to be involved in the scientific network, and to collaborate with DRIHM project in future publication achievements for my country, if possible, are the main objectives to participate in this useful summer school.
Honestly, I have a little experience in using hydrological models. I only gained knowledge in using CHYM hydrological model during my participating in the 2nd Workshop on Water Resources in Developing Countries: Planning and Management in a Climate Change Scenario, at ICTP last May 2013.
With my best regards,
Muntasir
