Tajikistan is a Mountainous country and 93% of the territory is covered by mountains. In mountainous areas of the Zeravshan River Basin often occur emergency events associated with flooding, avalanches. In the river Zarafshan emergency cases, on average, more than 150 cases per year, or about 7% of the total for all th territory. The majority of the population of basin namely population of the Ajni and Penjikent annually carry large economic and sometimes loss of life.
Annually for the period of observation and registration of emergencies related to water from 1998 to 2012 in the mountainous areas of the Penjikent and Ajni of the Zarafshan River Basin registered floods and mudslides formation. Bolivia is an interesting country, the eastern region is mainly composed of the Amazon rainforest and the western region consists of the Andean mountains.
At the eastern region, the floods are generally large in extension and lasts several days/weeks. This year the economical loss are estimated in hundreds of millions of american dollars and thousand of families were temporally relocated. The intensity of the floods were particularly strong.
At the western region, is common to have flash floods strong in intensity but of short duration. An example in La Paz, the capital city of Bolivia this year:

I'm Vincenzo and I completed my studies in 2012 with a Master's Degree "The defense against hydrogeological disasters: prediction, prevention and rescue” during which I explored aspects concerning the connections between climate and hydrological phenomena. During 2013 I worked on the construction of a database for the period 2002/2012 at the CNR-IRPI - U.O.S. in Cosenza, as an intern. I currently work for the CNR-IRPI - U.O.S. in Cosenza to a digital archive relating to extreme events occurred in Calabria (Southern Italy) in '900. This database will form the basis for studies of extreme events related to floods and landslides and their economic and social effects.
