hi guys,
I'm here.... and I'm enthusiastic of your assist...

till now i looked the crowdfounding projects more and less like people look at me when I speak to them about open hardware projects, but, just reading together yours last two post.... bingo!

for me the idea is genial :-)

I'm speaking about a new crowd founding project of a new open hardware citizen scientist meteo station (low cost) based on ACRONET paradigm

let me study just a little about crowdfounding and you'll have my news soon

cheers

Hi Cosimo,

Have to admit that I'm very curious about the crowdfunding idea you're developing! I'm not an expert in the area, but if you think I can help please drop me a line!

Dear Cosimo

do you have any update about the PWS low cost project for citizen scientists?

That would be a great result to deliver through DRIHM by fall season and also considering forthcoming HORIZON2020 calls.

Thanks

All the best

Antonio

I exchanged few e-mails about this with Cosimo, and the challenge in pushing the price down to the level is the cost of temperature sensors.

So if anyone has any ideas on alternative sources (new approaches coming to market), then please let us know!

Spotted this report that - while not addressing meteostations directly - brings in interesting data with regard to the question of what "professional" or "field ready" might mean:

cfpub.epa.gov/si/si_public_record_report...or+evaluation+report

Based on a quick browse, it seems that for the most part the inexpensive air quality sensors fare quite well when compared to traditional "professional" setups.
