How to register and use the system

The following instructions apply to Hydro-meteorology scientists; while citizen scientists can refer to this document. 

The DRIHM is based on a Grid, which applies Virtual Organizations as basic concept for authentication. To use the DRIHM services, you must 1) get a Grid certificate, and 2) register for the DRIHM VO.

Getting a Grid certificate

1. Request a Grid certificate at your (national) certificate authority (CA). A list of available CAs can be found here: www.eugridpma.org
2. Go to your nearest registration authority (RA) and authenticate yourself by providing an official identity card

Registering for the DRIHM VO

To use the resources provided by EGI to DRIHM you have to register in the Virtual Organisation Membership Service (VOMS) of EGI, as subsequently described.

1. Direct your web browser to https://vomsmania.cnaf.infn.it:8443/voms/drihm.eu. Note: You will be asked to provide your Grid certificate (you get as described above)
2. Fill out the form and submit it
3. You will receive an email with the subject [VOMS Admin] Your membership request for VO drihm.eu . Click on the link provided by the email
4. A VO manager will approve the registration in the administrator web interface. Afterwards, you will automatically receive an email with the subject [VOMS Admin] Your vo membership request for VO drihm.eu has been approved.
5. Now you are a member of the DRIHM VO and allowed to use the resources that are provided to drihm.eu.
